Adam Voorhees reveals new 70m superyacht design concept

Yacht designer Adam Voorhees has revealed new designs for a 70m sailing superyacht, collaborating with Dykstra Naval Architects.

The designs were developed as a result of a client’s requests for an extraordinarily fast vessel which offers high levels of comfort, and combines the heritage of the sailing yacht with the latest technology. Adam Voorhees explained, “The yacht moves beyond the façade of simply using classical styling and a modern underbody but instead arrives at an authentic expression all its own.

“This is clearly articulated in the sleek glass deckhouses that appear to push through an envelope of teak. In the living spaces, the formal decorative applique so liberally applied to traditional sailing vessels, now becomes a background canvas for highlighting focal pieces of form, furniture, and art to support thoughtful living.”

On board, the owner’s accommodation includes a private lounge, cockpit and study. There is storage for an 8.5m owner’s tender, as well as a 6.5m working tender. The tender well is also able to be transformed into a swimming pool. Other key features on board include a beach club and boarding lobby.

There are also plans for advanced materials and construction methods in order to ensure maximum weight savings and optimised performance.
