Alewijnse develops app for reviewing superyacht energy options

Alewijnse Marine Systems, the leading systems integrator for superyachts, is showing at MYS 2013
for the first time its new software designed to aid yards and marine engineers in determining the
best energy and propulsion systems for any superyacht, taking into account its design and
operational profile. Known as the Power Compass, this versatile application guides the user through
the various energy and propulsion options in order to select the most efficient system for any
particular yacht. At a stroke Alewijnse’s years of expertise are available to industry experts at the
touch of a button.
Visitors to the Alewijnse stand (QD66) can experience a preliminary version of the app and gain an
understanding on how it determines its recommendations.
Alewijnse will also be showing at MYS 2013 other, third‐party, products that it is offering its clients
for the first time. One of these is Yacht‐Eye, the infotainment package from Oculus Technologies that
allows superyacht guests to follow the progress of the yacht as it travels using a variety of eyecatching
formats as well as providing information on itineraries, places of interest and even menus.
Another is VesselWatch, a multifunctional safety and communication system. This reduces the
number of devices crew have to carry by interacting with an ever‐growing number of onboard
systems, whilst dramatically increasing the features available to that crewmember.

The system is versatile, reliable and extremely secure, using advanced 40Bit rolling encryption that
ensures that voice, data and GPS are hidden to all but an individual yacht’s personnel.
Finally, enjoy the new, two minute, movie created by Alewijnse that neatly demonstrates the
services that the company provides its customers by taking a tour through the recently refitted MY
Life Saga. Using animations as well as live footage it provides the perfect introduction to the vital but
hidden contribution that system integrators make to the success and safety of every superyacht.
