Netherlands-based Balk Shipyard has recently announced that it has taken ownership of fellow Dutch shipyard, Jachtwerf Bloemsma.
A group of international journalists attending the annual HISWA tour in the Netherlands were the first to learn of the news. Daan Balk, director of Balk Shipyard, and the owner of Classen Jachtbouw who had already taken over Bloemsma Aluminiumbouw, Jan Hart, mutually agreed the sale.
Hart, owner and managing director at Bloemsma Aluminiumbouw, will maintain full focus on aluminium construction, and will continue to focus on refit and rebuild projects, such as the 45m Bravado, the 44m Valeria, and a 50m Amels superyacht.
There are two projects currently in the pipeline at Jachtwerf Bloemsma: two sailing yachts, Mulligan and Copihue. More information on the future strategy of the yard, in light on the new ownership, is expected in the coming months.
