Bespoke products increasing in the superyacht industry

There has been an increase in demand for customised and bespoke interior products in the luxury and superyacht industries, according to leading leather interior manufacturer, Absolute Breton.

Javier Villanueva Breton, CEO of Absolute Breton explained, “Nowadays the customisation of products or gifts is one of the key services that many businesses offer. Every day we are finding that users tend to look for personal, original or bespoke products with character. They want items that are exclusive to them, so they have a feeling that each one is special.

“We have seen an increase over the years of our luxury clients requesting more and more customisation to their products, which requires us to have the skills to create additional bespoke options.”

With the superyacht industry being as demanding as ever, Javier also explained how clients expect a quick turnaround time, despite this not always being possible due to the personal nature of their requests.

He continued, “Creating bespoke items is not always easy as requests can be complex, with clients unwilling to compromise. Customising an article may seem a simple and fast process to some, however there are many steps we need to follow, besides the decisions that need to be made by the client.

“For example, for us, once the size, position and type of embossing has been decided, and we have the logo or name the customer wishes, only then can the stamp can be ordered. After that, the embossing can be made. If the customer wants his customisations to have a specific colour, this can also take more time. Often customers will come up with numerous requests, which, when combined, can take us a few days to create.”

Javier finished by explaining, “Generally, customisation has become a synonym for character and originality, so every business that offers it will always have a potential customer.”
