The British Marine Federation has highlighted the quality of British companies in the superyacht industry, after it hosted the Superyacht UK Tour of Excellence recently alongside Superyacht UK (SYUK).
SYUK, which is part of British Marine, is an association supporting UK superyacht businesses, and comprises a range of businesses including naval architects, designers and superyacht yards.
Taking place between 18th and 22nd April, international delegates and journalists from Cornwall to Sussex were given the opportunity to visit a number of British companies who offer products and services to the superyacht industry.
The group met a range of companies from around the UK, including Adam Marine, Bray Yacht Design, Edmiston and Marine La Ciotat. According to British Marine, the tour was aimed at demonstrating Britain’s “rich heritage as seafaring pioneers, with truly world-class products and services from the global superyacht arena.”
Mike Carr, chairman at SYUK and joint managing director of Pendennis Shipyard commented, “The SYUK Tour of Excellence provided an invaluable opportunity to showcase Pendennis’ capabilities to a broad range of international industry influencers and decision makers.
“By welcoming and hosting delegates personally we are able to provide a detailed overview of our business and develop relationships with new contacts.”
Richard Selby, international development manager at British Marine and SYUK added, “Industry statistics released by Superyacht UK last year demonstrate that the British superyacht industry is riding the wave of economic recovery.
“The rise in demand has also translated into more jobs with 4,000 full-time employees now in the industry. It is important to continue to promote this sector and last week’s event was a fantastic showcase and a great opportunity for British companies to network with potential buyers.”
