Shamrock Quay in Southampton, England, hosted its first ‘Classics on the Quay’ evening event of the year on 17th April. The event regularly attracts over 100 classic cars to the marina on the third Sunday of each month between April and September.
The first summertime ‘Classics on the Quay’ show of the year was officially opened by Mayor Councillor Linda Norris and, was considered an outstanding success, with over 160 classic cars, bikes and even fire engines in attendance. Shamrock Quay also laid on a BBQ for visitors.
‘Classics on the Quay’ was set up by Mark Elliott, Dockmaster at Shamrock Quay to bring together petrol-fuelled car enthusiasts from MDL Marina’s berth holders, tenants, private owners and local car clubs.
Mark commented, “Last Sunday was a huge success and it’s all thanks to everyone that brought along their treasured classics, as well as all our visitors that attend. It was the biggest event held here at Shamrock Quay with 169 classics on show. It’s been fantastic to see this event expand month on month and we are looking forward to seeing everyone here at the marina throughout the year.”
During the summer months, ‘Classics on the Quay’ is held from 6pm to 8:30pm. In the winter the event becomes a brunch meeting, held from 10:30am to 12:30pm.
