Coltraco Ultrasonics’ has announced that it has recently been awarded American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) type approval for its Portalevel® MAX and Portascanner® WATERTIGHT handheld products, for their ability to improve safety at sea.
Designed to increase marine fire safety and water integrity for high-value critical assets and infrastructure, Coltraco’s Portalevel® MAX and Portascanner® WATERTIGHT products allow yacht crews to monitor the safety of superyachts on voyage – a pertinent issue, especially with the recent fire aboard 30m Hargrave superyacht M/Y Limitless and other unfortunate incidences.
Portalevel® MAX is an ultrasonic liquid indicator used for testing cylinder contents of fixed fire extinguishing systems, such as CO2 extinguishers, and Portascanner® WATERTIGHT is an ultrasonic watertight integrity test indicator, designed for testing watertight or weathertight seals.
Coltraco issued a statement saying, “…at Coltraco we have found that there are crucial safety issues within the ships and marine industry which are severely undervalued. Coltraco’s outlook, initiatives and products aim to use cutting edge scientific technology to tackle these issues to ensure a genuine improvement in safety across the world.”
According to the American Bureau of Shipping,"The mission of ABS is to serve the public interest as well as the needs of our members and clients by promoting the security of life and property and preserving the natural environment”
