Crew come together to raise money for colleague with cancer

Superyacht crew member Charlie Howden, is currently battling stage four pancreatic cancer and his fellow crew have organised a fundraiser for him on 3rd September, at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort (505 N. A1A, 33304).

Charlie has worked in the yachting industry for more than a decade, working on vessels such as M/Y Cakewalk, M/Y Casual Water, M/Y Fortrus and M/Y The Big Blue. Diagnosed on 1st August 2013 after a year of tests and false diagnoses, Charlie started treatment and in March 2014 received clear test results, but the cancer has since returned.

According to his fundraising page, to stay strong through treatments Charlie continued to paddleboard, and in May 2014 he paddled more than 200 miles in eleven days in Costa Rica to raise more than $15,000 for the William Guy Forbeck Research Foundation, a cancer research organisation.

Tickets to the eventWhite Out the Night to Fight Cancer, which takes place from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, are $125. Guests are asked to dress in white. There will be cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dessert and a silent auction.

RSVP by 30th August to [email protected] or call + 1954 629 9224.
