Damen presents new 45m superyacht support vessel

Dutch yard Damen has unveiled a new design in its yacht support range, the 45-metre (148-foot) YS 4508. Already under construction, the first hull in the new range is due to be delivered in late 2019.

Damen showcased the design during Monaco Yacht Show 2018, where its team revealed a scale model of the vessel on board its recently delivered support vessel Power Play.

Measuring 45 metres, the steel semi-displacement support vessel has an 8.3-metre beam, 120 square metres of deck space and an interior volume of 315GT.

YS 4508 will be built from an aluminium superstructure. The exterior and interior design has been overseen by Damen’s in-house design team, while the interior styling and customisation can be tailored to the owner’s preferences.

Described by the yard as “a blend of superyacht support and stand-alone functionality”, she offers accommodation for up to six guests across three double guest cabins with bathrooms.

A touch-and-go helipad and deck crane for tenders and toys weighing up to six tonnes is among the vessel’s key features.

Power will come from a pair of Caterpillar C32 TTA engines, allowing for a top speed of 16.5 knots and a range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots.
