Dubai International Boat Show has 11 leading superyacht builders confirmed

Visitors to this year’s Dubai International Boat Show, 5th to 9th March 2013, the Middle East’s largest and longest running leisure marine event, will have the opportunity to do business with the world’s leading builders of large yachts, Superyacht Experience, which falls under the umbrella of the prestigious Superyacht Builders Association (SYBAss).

The show is organised by Dubai World Trade Centre and takes place at the Dubai International Marine Club – Mina Seyahi.

The 21st edition of the Dubai International Boat Show will see 11 prominent Superyacht Experience members taking part with two new superyacht builders, Mondo Marine and Palmer Johnson, attending this year. Prized Superyacht Experience members taking part this year include: AMELS, Benetti, CRN, Fincantieri, Heesen, Lürssen, Mondo Marine, Oceanco, Palmer Johnson, Sanlorenzo and Trinity. For the first time, Sanlorenzo will showcase one of its luxurious superyachts on water at the Dubai International Boat Show.

Superyacht Experience newcomer, Mondo Marine is located in the popular yacht building area of Savona, Italy, with the expertise and facilities to build luxury superyachts from light alloy and steel ranging from 29 metres to over 50 metres in length. American superyacht builder and newcomer Palmer Johnson specialises in the construction of luxury high-performance superyachts and is contributing to a generation carbon fibre yachts with a revolutionary hull design that is faster, more efficient, stable and spacious.

Jimmy Rivers, vice president of Trinity Yachts said, “As Trinity Yachts continues to expand its global reach, the Dubai International Boat Show provides an ideal platform to tap into the Middle East’s luxury boating market and build relationships with potential buyers. We have gained recognition as one of the World's elite builders of custom superyachts of high quality craftsmanship, state-of-the-art construction and engineering techniques acquired from many years of experience in the industry. We anticipate a strong response from potential buyers in the region this year.”

The Middle East has long been associated with the world’s most luxurious superyachts. According to Superyacht.com’s 2013 forecast, 60% of the top 100 superyachts are owned by Middle East residents. In addition, 55% of the top 20 superyachts in the World currently have Middle East owners.

Trixee Loh, senior vice president of Dubai World Trade Centre, organiser of Dubai International Boat Show explained, “The Dubai International Boat Show is synonymous with luxury yachting, and is the perfect opportunity for superyacht builders to market their high-end products to a burgeoning audience. The development of the Superyacht Experience pavilion supports the growing demand for superyachts in this lucrative market from regional buyers.”

Marcel Onkenhout, chief executive officer of Oceanco, a luxury large yacht builder said, “Dubai International Boat Show’s exclusive location, select set-up and high profile visitors afford us the opportunity to promote our yachts and reach local and worldwide potential buyers. Oceanco has a strong order book and when the new facility is completed, we will be able to double our build capacity.”

Michael Breman, sales director of world renowned superyacht manufacturer, Lürssen said, “Dubai International Boat Show is among the best platforms to showcase our latest models, and inform visitors about the recent developments and innovations in shipbuilding. The event allows us to meet the demand for our luxury superyachts within the Middle East region.”

Dubai International Boat Show is set to host more than 750 international and regional exhibiting companies with exhibitors from more than 49 countries participating including debut appearances from Malta, Armenia and Malaysia.

Other key segments of the show include the Superyacht Boulevard, exclusively reserved to showcase superyachts of 25 metres and above. The Marina Display Area comprises the largest on-water display in the Middle East while the Luxury Supplies & Services houses the finest luxury fixtures and fittings from around the world.

The Equipment Supplies & Services sector, an indoor area filled with exhibitors hailing from all areas of the globe, specialises in products essential to the supply and servicing of the leisure marine industry. The Dive Middle East Exhibition (DMEX), having grown 35% since last year, will be the biggest ever since its inception, with more than 60 products and brands to be displayed at the show.

The popular Supercar Promenade returns to the show for the third year and brings with it a range of limited edition models and the finest examples of engineering prowess available on four wheels.

Mercedes Benz is supporting the event as the official car while the official footwear partner is Crocs. Leading private jet manufacturer Bombardier joins the show as a major supporter for the second year.
