Ferrari Franchi Design unveil new 50m sloop concept

Italian designers, Marco Ferrari and Alberto Franchi, have released a new design concept for a high performance 50 metre sailing yacht.

The 50m sloop boasts an overall waterline length of 45-metres, thanks to the use of a slight reverse bow, extending the yachts reaching capabilities during upwind sailing. Incorporating modern design with large outside entertaining spaces, the concept has been created to promote world exploration and comfort.

With accommodation space for up to eight guests across three cabins, plus a private owner’s suite, the floor plan can also be adapted to house a further guest cabin, allowing for a maximum capacity of up to ten guests.

Considered to be the concept’s most thought-out features, the 63-metre mast will still allow for the yacht to pass through the Panama and Suez canals once complete. As well as this, with her keel lowered, she measures a draught of 6.7 meters, designed to facilitate sailing in shallow waters, such as those found in the Bahamas.

The sail plan consists of a main sail, stay sail and a blade, with the possibility to use an asymmetrical spinnaker, all made in 3DL. The blade can also be replaced with a Genoa sail to maximise performance.
