SuperyachtNews.com yesterday reported that Mirage Captain Colin Richardson, shared that nobody on board was hurt, and that crew put out the fire within 25 minutes.
He said, “There had been some damage on board, which is mostly due to sea water from the jets used to put out the fire.”
Due to the damage, Mirage has had to cancel several charters while she undergoes repair work in the nearby STP Shipyard, which could take up to three months.
While the cause of the fire is still not known, news of the repair comes after she completed the third phase of an extensive refit project at the STP yard just last June, where she underwent a complete interior remodel, with new crew area, housing, communications mast, bridge, engine room and exterior paintwork.
Captain Richardson added, “We are planning to be at the Antigua Charter Yacht Show for the beginning of the Caribbean season.”
