By founding the association "sailing4handicaps" the athlete Wojtek Czyz - Paralympics medalist and European and World Champion in disabled sports - and his Italian girlfriend Elena Brambilla have initiated an extraordinary aid project.
Both athletes plan to sail around the world on their catamaran, a Lagoon 410 S2. On their sea journey they would like to introduce the possibility of a prosthetic treatment to people in need all over the world thus offering them completely new perspectives and a greater quality of life.
The specialized crew will navigate to several ports in many countries and work with amputees showing them the manufacturing, the use and maintenance of prostheses and providing them with support where needed.
This ambitious project requires a reliable and continuous power supply especially when no shore power is available.
A Panda 10000i PMS of the Germany-based manufacturer of generators, Fischer Panda GmbH, has been installed on board to ensure the power supply for the manufacturing of prostheses.
On 26 September 2013 from 10:00 until 15:00 sailing4handicaps is inviting interested people and the media to attend their special information event to learn more about the association and their project.
A Fischer Panda representative will be present as well as providing expert advice regarding the installation of a generator on board the sailing catamaran.
Jens Langer head of sales, projects and marketing at Fischer Panda GmbH commented "When Herr Czyz introduced his project to us, the decision to support the good cause was made pretty quickly, and we are glad that we could come aboard and support this extraordinary and exciting project."
