Fraser Yachts sells second 74m Amels 242 superyacht

Fraser Yachts has announced the sale of the second 74m hull of the Amels 242 Limited Edition range. Currently under construction at the Amels facility in Vlissingen in the Netherlands, the superyacht is scheduled for delivery in spring 2017.

Antoine Larricq of Fraser Yachts Monaco represented the buyer in the purchase of the project, making this the fourth new build project that he has overseen on behalf of the buyer, and his ninth new build project in recent years.

Commenting on the signing of the contact with Amels, Mr. Laricq explained, “We initially visited the Amels 212 Z during the 2014 Monaco Yacht Show. Therefore we explored all possibilities of potential projects under construction. This took us worldwide, travelling as far as the Antipodes and China, and finally extended to the study of a full custom solution.

“With the client’s brief uppermost, it gradually became clear that the Amels shipyard ticked all the boxes. Some examples: Building quality, reputation and design pedigree, spa area, helicopter capability, owner’s deck layout and delivery date within 18 months.”

As with the first 242 Limited Edition hull, Tim Heywood is set to design the ‘sleek and elegant’ lines of the exterior, with fellow British designer Andrew Winch overseeing the interior design. Both will work with the new owner to customise the 242 to suit his personal requirements.

Rob Luijendik, managing director of Amels said of the new project, “This yacht will have a very different character to the first Amels 242. This is precisely why our Limited Editions concept has worked so well. The customisation, the very high level of quality and the proven platform, combined with faster delivery, creates a very attractive proposition.”

The yacht will reportedly be used for world cruising and features an elongated aft deck, creating superior exterior spaces. VF Yachts, the in-house project management team of Fraser Yachts, will undertake the project management of the vessel.

Construction of the first 242 Limited Edition is currently well underway, with a delivery date set for early 2016. The first Amels 272 project - the largest hull in the Limited Editions range at 83m - is also currently ongoing.
