Further details of Ulstein’s mysterious 88.5m explorer yacht concept revealed

New details have emerged of an 88.5-metre (290-foot) explorer yacht project signed by Ulstein Group in late 2016.

Details have been kept tightly under wraps, but the build is now visible outside the firm’s Ulsteinvik yard in Norway as work continues apace. Construction is now believed to be at an advanced stage and, if all goes well, she could be delivered before the end of 2018.

The hull and superstructure were completed in late January 2018 by Brodosplit in Croatia. Few details of the specs have been made public, although she is known to have a unique design courtesy of lauded naval architect Espen Øino and based on the original X-Bow platform.

Øino has combined the explorer yacht’s core character with new elements of luxury and elegance – for example, a large helipad has been placed on the bridge deck for aerial transfers and a 10-metre pool is now included on the main deck aft.

Ulstein’s new project will have a healthy 3,800GT weight upon completion thanks to a spacious 16.3-metre beam.

Technical and interior details are still private at this stage.
