General Coating GmbH has announced that they have recently obtained the ISO 9001 quality management certificate and practices and the SCC safety certificate.
George Balmforth, assistant manager at General Coating said, “We have been working on the ISO 9001 for about six months in preparation and recently had our exterior audit, which went extremely well and has led to the certification and ISO 9001 system applications to all aspects of the quality control, documentation and management within the company.
“Another vital certification to have obtained with regards to the health and safety management and processes within General Coating was the SCC safety certificate. Again six months of hard work and preparation led to the certification in association with DEKRA in Germany.”
The good news continues from General Coating as they are currently working on an 80.5m Blohm and Voss superyacht. George explained, “We are currently working together with Blohm and Voss in Hamburg on an 80.5m superyacht refit; we have been contracted to carry out all coating works on both the interior and exterior. The scope of the works consists of full corrosion control, filling, fairing and finishing.
“We are excited to take on this challenge to work directly with Blohm and Voss as the main coating contractor; it’s a fantastic project to start the refit season. It’s an older vessel that presents challenges, but we are confident that we will carry out the works, on time, on budget and to the expectations of the owner and yard.
Other superyachts General Coating have worked include: M/Y Pelorus (115m), M/Y Gracefull (82m) M/Y Palladium (96m), M/Y Mylin 4 ( 61m), M/Y Nahlin (91m), M/Y Octopus (126m), M/Y Almiqab (133m), M/Y Falcon (49m), M/Y Valerie (84m), and many more
