General Coating subcontracted for new 49m DeVries build

General Coating GmbH recently landed a filling and fairing contract in Amsterdam, Holland for a new 49m DeVries superyacht build.  They have been subcontracted by a major shipyard and will be adding their specialist exterior skills and experiences to the current shipyards workforce.

The contract will last for four months and will include all aspects of filling and fairing three large sections of the exterior surfaces and substrates of the vessel to the highest of industry standard using the owners chosen Epoxy filler system. The work will include the fine/closing filler application and preparation for first primer.

General Coating has recently made a number of forward thinking announcements to establish themselves as a serious contender in the exterior yacht coating market, including a company rebrand and a new redesigned multilingual website.

George Balmforth, assistant manager at General Coating commented, “I think this is a fantastic opportunity for us. Once a new door such as this one is opened, we need to make sure we seize the opportunity and utilise it to the fullest. Getting a major yard like this one to commit to us is always a first hurdle and the first major step for any smaller firm competing with the bigger companies. It enables us to further prove our expertise when it comes down to delivering the needed quality and meeting deadlines. This could be a great opportunity to develop a longer term working relationship with one of the largest new build superyacht yards in the world.”

By winning contracts such as this 49m DeVries project, it shows that General Coating has the expertise and skillset to compete against its bigger competitors.
