Get qualified at Emerald Marina Bay

Emerald Bay Marina offers diving lessons at 9 a.m. every day except Sunday. According to dive master/manager Lennox Trusty, the course includes a 20 minute video plus a lecture by the dive instructor. This is followed by a practical demonstration in the marina’s special dive training pool based on the basic skills of the student.

Trusty comments that the “Skills and learning speed of each student will vary. One doesn’t have to be the greatest swimmer, but you have to have some kind of aquatic ability, such as the ability to float”

Among the topics also covered are diving physics, what you will see underwater and what you should not touch or do underwater, diving equipment usage, skills needed for diving plus hand signals.

Students are required to fill out a medical questionnaire. In the event any of the questions are answered with a “yes” a doctor’s clearance to participate is required. The dive centre is located just to the east of the main marina building and is open every day except Sunday.

You can find a representative from Emerald Marina Bay at Fort Lauderdale International Boat in the Captain’s Hideout located in Bahia Mar Hotel Staterooms A & B adjacent to the south show gate. The Captain’s Hideout is the perfect place for professional captains and crew to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the show, providing complimentary refreshments and free wi-fi access throughout the day.
