Global IP expands coverage with new hubs in Fuchsstadt and Singapore

Global IP, a market leader in satellite communications services worldwide for maritime, energy and corporate markets, has announced that it has expanded its coverage in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia, with the set up of two new Global IP DVB/S2-RCS2 hubs in Fuchsstadt (Germany) and Singapore.

Global IP will use capacity on Intelsat 22 at 72° East and Intelsat 702 at 33° East to introduce advanced mobility services to its customers.

These hubs are strategically positioned, each one oriented to different regions. The hub in Singapore is well focused on the marine coverage for the Indian Ocean area and South East Asia. This hub provides the advantage of supplying full coverage from China to India with just one beam, without having to worry about the roaming for a large maritime route.

On the other hand, with the capacity Global IP uplinks from Fuchsstadt hub, it is possible to provide communication to the east coast of Africa, thereby, improving the security of the area, since one single spot includes the entire zone.

In addition, IS702 services have been designed to fulfill the needs of the yachts and the tuna fleet market in the middle of the Indian Ocean. The hub in Fuchsstadt not only covers vital maritime routes in the East coast of Africa, the Red Sea, the Persian Gulf and the Seychelles, but also makes it possible to offer terrestrial services over the Middle East, a strategic bridge between Europe and Asia.

With the DVB-RCS2 standard already operative, Global IP claims it will achieve a higher level of performance and efficiency. Global IP will be able to offer higher capacity services, employing a lower quantity of Mbps, and will still be more efficient. DVB-RCS2 allows for wider coverage while reducing the total costs for the customers.
