ICOMIA Superyacht Applicators Group welcomes new member

ICOMIA has welcomed Storm Yacht S.r.l. to the Superyacht Applicators Group, a group formed of leading independent paint applicators who wish to maintain and improve quality within the industry.

They join fellow members ACA Marine, Klaver Yachtpainting B.V., Bonsink Yachtpainters B.V., De Koning Marine Service B.V. and Superyacht Solutions.

Malcolm Kerr, director of Storm commented, “From our base in Livorno, Italy, we provide the ultimate in yacht fairing and painting to the superyacht industry. For the last 12 years we have been Benetti's, and more recently, Lusben's main exterior paint contractor, with now more than 30 boats on our curriculum. 

“Our continuous research of innovative technical and management solutions has enabled us to improve our service and end product to the client. The quality of our workmanship has resulted in many owners and surveyors contractually stipulating our involvement in both new-builds and repaint projects. Through our experience gained, knowledge and skills acquired, we also offer a highly professional consultancy service to shipyards and owners alike. Both managing partners are FROSIO and RMCI certified.”

Large yachts and related structures require specific attention in order to be able to apply paints with high quality requirements for the ultimate standard of exterior surface appearance expected, and those that withstand the severe corrosion stresses to which they are exposed during their service life. There is therefore a need to minimise the risk of failures that would compromise and impact the level of exterior coating finish that the customer expects in term of gloss, colour, appearance, safety and operating costs or capital costs.

The Superyacht Coatings Applicator Group seeks to maintain and improve quality within the Group, following professional working standards and meeting specified environmental best practices. The Group therefore acts as the voice of this segment within the industry.

The interests of superyacht applicator companies within the superyacht Industry are represented at an international decision-making level through the Applicators Group. They are informed and updated of all applicable legislation and regulations that need compliance. Additionally, the Applicators Group serves as a forum between yards where issues can be raised and discussed.
