In the realm of maritime luxury, the quest to offer yacht charter guests the perfect night's sleep has become an art form, one which luxury bed and linen supplier, CC Design, has fully committed to.
Dutch shipyard Icon Yachts has started construction on an extended refit facility, following a vote from the company’s stakeholders. The results of the vote has led the yard to build a new floating shed.
The floating shed is set to accommodate a surge in refit projects coming to the yard. It will measure 130 metres in length and be equipped with up to 28 metres of mast clearance.
The new facility will increase Icon’s refit capacity by almost 100% and will allow the yard to take on bigger projects.
The yard believes the new facility will allow it specifically to take on more North European builds and make sure that refit projects are completed “on time and on budget… [with] no surprises”.
The construction was inspired by conversations with the captain of “one of the most prestigious yachts in the world” who claimed “us captains always prefer to stay in the water.”
“That is why a floating dock for refits makes sense,” Icon explained.
With the build starting early this month, the completion date is expected to be before the end of the year.
Icon has also revealed they have recruited more than 25 new employees over the past year and currently has over 300 metres of yacht projects underway.
