Interior Yacht Services and Interior Training Academy announces unique collaboration

IYS - Interior Yacht Services and ITA - Interior Training Academy have announced that they will be supporting each other’s efforts and programmes, starting in 2015.

Both principles, Terry Gilmore and Peter Vogel, are of the opinion that the industry requires a united approach following the PYA GUEST initiative, and feel that it’s in the best interest for the industry that the quality of the training provided both on-board and ashore, is professional and of equal quality.

This pioneering initiative gives the industry a strong interior training platform, which provides benefits for everyone involved. Both Terry and Peter feel that it’s time to provide the type of training that supports the interior operation and motivate the individual interior crewmember to be the best they can be.

ITA will be focusing on elementary and intermediate training and runs shore-side courses throughout the year in Antibes whilst IYS runs its luxury hospitality specialist courses in Amsterdam, focusing on intermediate, advanced and management levels.

Peter Vogel, Managing Director of IYS commented, “It feels great to work alongside Terry and the ITA whilst giving back to this great industry at the same time. We are both excited that we will be able to offer options to individual crewmembers.”

Both companies are specialised in training on board and have developed effective programmes supporting crew on board the yachts. They will continue to bring their expertise, and in the future support each other where possible.

Terry Gilmore, Managing Director of ITA said, “Working together with Peter, I am confident we are making a positive approach to improving the standards and professionalism of crew working in the interior of private and charter yachts globally.

“To train and provide the basis for sound progression from the outset of one’s career is essential to owners and fellow crew alike.”

Terry is also able to support his clients further by specialising in interior and chefs, through his recruiting service at Abacus & March. Peter supports captains and interior heads of department (HOD) through the implementation of interior operating structures.

Joey Meen, training and certification director of the Professional Yachting Association (PYA) recently said, “It is a bold and inspiring step to have ITA and IYS collaborate. As approved accredited PYA training providers, offering the GUEST program, they are making the owners experience their priority.”
