Ken Hickling, president of ISS and event organiser, said “Kerry Pettitt at MTN said they couldn’t find a prize for the raffle, but instead donated £4,000 from their Pinmar Charities fund. The race itself generated £1050 through the generous contributions of sailors and Alan Bernardi of Airship added a further £500. We have a fabulous event, now in its second year and quickly becoming a fixture in the calendar, and as an industry we come together for a noble cause. It’s the best of all worlds.”
The winner of the 2013 ISS U.K. Regatta is IconConnect, who also won the Ladies Race. Strong showings by BMT Nigel Gee, Laurent Giles and H2 Design added excitement. A total of eleven one-design boats raced, convening on Friday, June 7 in Hamble and racing both Saturday and Sunday.
Hickling added “We should all get on the water from time to time if for no other reason than to remind us of why we love this business as we do.”
