IYC (International Yacht Collection) has announced that it is forming a team to participate in the Publix Escape to Miami Triathlon 2013 on 29th September 2013. In remembrance of John Ciullo, through participation in the race and sponsorship, IYC is supporting The Lustgarten Foundation, America’s largest private foundation dedicated solely to funding pancreatic cancer research.
Bob Saxon, President of IYC and a very close friend of John’s, said “Our dear friend and colleague, John Ciullo, passed away on September 29th 2012 from pancreatic cancer. The staff at International Yacht Collection has decided to do something in his memory in support of pancreatic cancer research. Our participation in the race, which happens to fall on September 29th, is the ideal tribute and a tangible way to deal with our loss”.
A triathlon, and the training required, is no easy task. Triathlons consist of three continuous endurance disciplines which vary in distances: swimming, cycling, and running. “IYC Athletes”, who are themselves sponsored by Trinity Yachts, will enter either the Individual Sprint Distance Race (0.25m swim, 13m bike, 3.1m run) or the Individual Olympic Distance Race (0.9m swim, 24.8m bike, 6.2m run).
The Lustgarten Foundation has provided more than $65 million to medical and research centers worldwide. IYC joins notable sponsors like Cablevision - a leading media and entertainment company, who has made a multi-year commitment to underwrite all of The Lustgarten Foundation's administrative costs to ensure that 100 percent of every dollar donated to the Foundation goes directly to pancreatic cancer research.
Saxon also said, “Please consider supporting the IYC Athletes, and the memory of John Ciullo, with a tax-deductible donation to The Lustgarten Foundation, and be as generous as you can. Your donation will help give pancreatic cancer patients a fighting chance”.
