Karpaz Gate Marina has announced special berthing rates at its marina facility in order to accommodate boat owners seeking to relocate their vessels to Northern Cyprus from other regions in the East Mediterranean.
The 5 Gold Anchor rated marina has announced that it has extended the early season rates it released at the end of last year until the end of May 2016, with up to 50 per cent discount in the hope that boat owners will stay in the region despite worries of safety issues and new VAT criteria.
Deniz Akaltan, harbour master at Karpaz Gate Marina said, “We are seeing evidence of an increase in boats deciding to leave the East Mediterranean for a variety of reasons. Karpaz Gate Marina is therefore opening its doors and offering an immediate solution for boat owners who are worried about the safety of themselves, crew and family, and the security of their yacht, and also to those looking for a tax haven in the region.
“By berthing with us on the Karpaz Peninsula, clients can enjoy all the facilities and high standards expected of a premium development and, at the same time, benefit from our marina’s unique position in a secure, calm location on an isolated island which remains unaffected by the issues and uncertainty faced by nearby more crowded and developed areas.
“Our guests can stay as long as they wish. There are minimal custom formalities, and paperwork, visa issues and permit renewal are all easy. As we are tax free, this means cheaper mooring, labour and spare parts for our clients, plus no VAT or custom tax for foreign flag boats.
“We encourage boat owners not to leave the East Mediterranean area which they love, but to take advantage of our very reasonable prices and no-tax status and start their season early, re-assured that their yacht is in a safe and secure home.”
