Karpaz Gate Marina in Northern Cyprus has launched a new sailing club for the 2015 summer season. The Karpaz Gate Marina Sailing Club was officially launched by club president Efe Karahan Sahin at a ceremony on the marina promenade.
An official member of the TRNC Sailing Federation, the club will offer classes led by an experienced licensed instructor and will use the marina’s fleet of optimist and laser sailing dinghies.
The courses and training sessions will initially be provided during the main season on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, as a free introduction to the sport for local children. There will also be lessons on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning and afternoon, for children for a fee. There will be an additional sailboat available for adult sessions, with an introductory half-day course under the supervision of the training instructor on offer for berth holders and marina guests.
Efe Karahan Sahin, president of Karpaz Gate Marina Sailing Club commented, “We are delighted to announce the establishment of the Karpaz Gate Marina Sailing Club which we are certain will provide a fantastic facility for locals and visitors. We are really looking forward to introducing many young sailors to the sport and giving them the opportunity to try something, which they may not otherwise have been able to access.
“We hope this new sailing club can benefit many visitors and berth holders at our marina who wish to enjoy testing and exploring the waters in this idyllic setting using our sailing dinghies. The new facility represents another way in which Karpaz Gate Marina is bringing sailing to North Cyprus and opening up this fantastic area of coast and cruising grounds to more people.”
