Lürssen Art Collective auctioning paintings to raise money for Blue Marine Foundation

German superyacht builder Lürssen is selling four unique paintings at auction as part of its efforts to raise money for the Blue Marine Foundation, which seeks to create and protect marine reserves and promote sustainable fishing methods.

The quartet of artworks, by a diverse range of industry designers such as Espen Oino and Tim Heywood, were on display at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show. Together the paintings are known as the ‘Lürssen Art Collective’ and each one includes a signature board recognising each person involved with its creation.

All are for sale through Lürssen’s online charity auction, and the shipyard has contributed an opening bid of €5,000 on each one. Unlike regular auctions, the auction website notes that the eventual buyer “will only be paying for the incremental difference between [their] bid and the previous bid… each bidder is obliged to pay the difference to the Blue Marine Foundation even [if their] bid was not successful because the participant was outbid.” The minimum bid amount is €25.
