Make way for the iPad controlled superyacht

Perhaps at first glance the new $15 million yacht looks more like an aeroplane than a yacht.

With its curved wings and long pointed nose, just a few square meters of the vessel actually touch the water surface whilst cruising, allowing the water baby to skim across the waves with ease.

The innovative design, along with high-tech features like an iPad-controller, helped the vessel 'Adastra' win three awards at last week's prestigious ShowBoats Design Awards in Monaco, including Best Naval Architecture.

Billionaire shipping magnate Anton Marden is believed to own the 42.5m vessel, which took more than five years to design and build.

‘Adastra’ yacht is a beautiful trimaran yacht with excellent sea keeping qualities, luxurious accommodation complimented by low fuel consumption. The superstructure of Adastra is carbon fibre with Nomex honeycomb core, whereas the hull is Glass/Kevlar foam sandwich

The Hong Kong-based magnate and his wife Elaine can remotely control their luxury yacht from up to 50m away, simply by sweeping their hand over an iPad.
