One of Europe’s leading marina operators, MDL Marinas, has recently announced its sponsorship of the 2015 South West 3 ‘Peaks’ Yacht Race that takes place between the 12th and 14th June 2015.
Renowned for being tough, the South West 3 ‘Peaks’ Yacht Race kicks off from St. Mawes Harbour in Cornwall at 12pm on the 12th June, and finishes in the early hours of the 14th at MDL’s Queen Anne’s Battery Marina in Plymouth.
The race consists of three ‘peaks’ - a 115-mile sail, 140-mile cycle and a 29-mile run - and requires excellent teamwork, stamina and a real desire to win. The challenge has this year attracted representatives from the 42 Commando Royal Marines in Plymouth and the Royal Naval Sailing Association.
As part of the sponsorship agreement, MDL’s logo will be embroidered on the hats worn by competitors and will also feature on the race trophy which will be presented to the winner later this year.
Adrien Burnand, head of marketing for MDL Marinas commented, “We are really pleased to be sponsoring the South West 3 ‘Peaks’ Yacht Race and look forward to another nail-biting event. We have huge respect for the participants taking part in this incredibly demanding race and it’s a pleasure to be supporting their remarkable efforts.”
Tim Whitaker, race director added, “We are delighted to have MDL on board as a main sponsor for this event. The race has been taking place since 2013 and is growing in popularity year on year. This year’s event looks to be extremely competitive, with participants from the Royal Marines and Navy going all out to win. It should be a very exciting day.”
