Moonen Yachts launches new 36m superyacht Brigadoon

Dutch shipyard Moonen Yachts has launched Brigadoon, a 36-metre (118-foot) superyacht with origins in the Martinique model from Moonen’s semi-custom Caribbean design series.

The Martinique model she stems from boasts a low-profile exterior with vertical windows and sharp lines, with styling by René van der Velden and naval architecture by Diana Yacht Design. Interiors are by Nauta Design and include a country-style galley, an impressive main saloon and owner’s cabin with panorama vistas on the main deck. The owners have added their personal touches throughout the vessel, ensuring it perfectly suits their needs and accurately reflects their own tastes.

Below on the lower deck are two VIP cabins and two guest rooms – she can accommodate up to 10 guests, with up to six staff across four cabins in the 290-square-metre crew quarters.

The clever external design gives the owners al-fresco spaces stretching to 180m2. As well as sizeable, flexible space, Brigadoon comes complete with a 5.5-metre tender garage and an option for a crane to store a large number of toys on the bridge deck.

In the engine room Brigadoon boasts twin 1,925hp Caterpillar C32 engines – these allow for a maximum speed of 17 knots and, if cruising at 10 knots, a range of 4,000 nautical miles. She also features a unique, high-tensile steel hull which allows for “significant” weight savings without compromising strength or structural integrity.

Brigadoon has been built to Lloyd’s standards – originally on spec before being sold in May 2018 – and will have a public debut at the Cannes Yacht Show.

The Caribbean design series, first revealed in 2014, is a contemporary range combining cutting-edge aesthetics with Moonen’s peerless heritage. The yard is currently building a second Martinique model on spec – a “sistership to Brigadoon” – with delivery planned for 2020.

Moonen CEO Johan Dubbelman explained in a statement, “We have recently embarked on a renewed and inspiring path that combines the rich heritage of Moonen and its DNA with a fresh take on aesthetics and design.

“Flexibility will be crucial as we allow Moonen owners exceptional leeway when it comes to the superstructure, interior design, layout and onboard facilities and equipment,” added Dubbelman. “No other premium quality yard within our size range of 30 to 50 metres can offer such a bespoke approach based on a proven hull and performance. Moreover, Moonen is going to ensure that our designs even more closely reflect the very latest demands from the market in terms of the onboard lifestyle people enjoy.”
