M/Y Blind Date undergoes engineering works

Florida based marine engineering company Advanced Mechanical Enterprises, has recently completed its engineering repair works on world famous 41M luxury yacht Blind Date. The Lurssen built motor yacht, which had previously undergone a major refit in 2004, had a range of different works carried out.

AME was commissioned to cut out both main engine exhaust flanges where they were heavily corroded. This involved removing the generator exhausts, all the lagging from the final stage of the main engine exhaust, removing the last section of the exhaust pipe, and then finally cutting out the old flange.

The new flanges were then fabricated and welded into place. It was always as straightforward as Advanced Mechanical Enterprises explained how after multiple tries, sometimes working well into the night, the welds were deemed to pass a surveyors scrutiny and the sections were replaced.

Tony Ferguson, captain of the vessel stated, “I found AME to be very good to work with, even sometimes in very trying circumstances. The job was completed to everyone’s satisfaction and I would not hesitate to use them again.”
