New Albanian marina in development for 2021 opening

Swiss company FINSEC AG has announced it is building a new marina on Albania’s Kalaja e Turrës peninsula on the Adriatic Sea that will form part of a luxury complex.

According to company representatives, Porto Albania and the accompanying service area is due to be completed in the first half of 2021.

The marina will offer more than 700 berths, 30 to 40 of which will be designed for yachts measuring more than 30 metres (98 feet).

Sabrina Zbinden, a spokesperson for the developer, said, “As of now, 70 per cent of the landfilling for the marina village, hotel and dry dock area is complete. Currently, the breakwater construction is being prepared in collaboration with international firms.

“The real estate area will be launched in 2023. Right now, we are in negotiations with leading companies for yacht maintenance.”

Finsec says Porto Albania is the largest investment in the history of the country’s tourism industry. The project will include a harbour area, residential site, canal villas, a retail area and a five-star hotel.
