The new iPad is being described as a must-have accessory worldwide, even if you happen to be underwater. Marine professionals and yacht enthusiasts are demanding new ways to take their iPad to sea – often for use with chart plotters, propulsion systems and on board entertainment gadgets.
These challenges have been met by the first product launched by Lifedge, an innovative Waterproof iPad Case. Lifedge has been launched by the marine electronics specialist Scanstrut Ltd.
Scanstrut plans to expand into a wider range of markets with its Lifedge off-shoot through a range of products “designed to enable anyone with a sense of adventure to have the freedom to enjoy their activity, in any location, even in harsh environments,” says the firm.
“For over 25 years Scanstrut has been about performance, innovation and improvement,” commented Tom Reed, the brand’s managing director. “Our expertise lies in changing and improving how products perform, how they look and are packaged.”
“When developing the iPad case we realised the product had a reach far beyond the core Scanstrut market. For that reason we decided that by launching it under a new brand, we would have the flexibility to communicate new products to an extended audience.”
Lifedge’s iPad case is waterproof and shockproof, and also floats on water. The new product has been through “rigorous testing” which showed it can be immersed in one metre of water for 30 minutes. The case can also be dropped onto a concrete floor from a height of one metre, without being damaged.
Lifedge’s iPad case also has an OptiguardTM coating for “exceptional screen clarity in sunlight, whilst ensuring abrasion and chemical resistance, preventing damage from regular use and exposure to oils, sunscreen and household chemicals,” says the product description.
Tom Reed feels confident about the new Lifedge iPad case: “There is an increasing trend in those wanting to carry their tablet computers and phones with them wherever they go. This means the iPad case needs to offer users full functionality of their device, whilst being practical and stylish - all of which this product does.”
The new iPad case is available in blue, green, pink and grey and retails at £99 (approximately $159) inc VAT.
