Gilles Martin-Raget, one of France’s top marine photographers, has recently launched a luxury photographic book of spectacular marine action shots, perfect for the coffee table or a lavish gift for photography fans.
The hardback book, The Legend of the Sea, released 23rd October 2014 with Bloomsbury Publishing, is a celebration of 30 years of Gilles’ photography, and a compilation of his favourite shots from the marine and yachting worlds.
Available in English and French editions, it features captivating, fast-paced racing shots and sedate cruising shots, photos taken from the end of the bow and those taken from the bridge.
The book is arranged thematically, including chapters on accidents at sea, the America’s Cup, classic yacht revivals, contemporary superyachts and futuristic yachting designs.
Featured boats are both large and small; understated and extremely spectacular, with a selection of monohulls and mulithulls.
Superyacht designers, owners, captains, crew and skippers are not forgotten, and as a yachting journalist also, neither are Gilles’ top tips for taking marine photography.
Gilles is a yachting journalist, an author and a renowned yachting photographer. He is the official photographer for many sailing events including the 2013 America’s Cup, and is a well-known name within the industry.
