There has been more recent race success for leading Dutch boatyard Claasen Shipyards, as yacht Firefly won the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta, held in Sardinia from 3rd – 7th June. The win for Firefly follows the recent win by Claasen Shipyards’ Lionheart at the first Menorca Maxi Regatta.
Firefly, which has just been listed for sale, performed consistently throughout the regatta and proved unbeatable, winning all four of her races. This impressive result earned her the Boat International Media Silver Jubilee Cup as the overall winner of the event.
The yacht set the standard to beat through the event, with enviable teamwork from her crew. Firefly’s owner was extremely proud of the win, and of the team that raced her to victory. He commented, “We’ve been practicing for three seasons now and we stick together really well. We were very much aiming for our achievements, and I’m delighted not so much for myself but for the team who made it all happen.”
The first of the new F-Class of yachts, Firefly was designed by Hoek Design and launched in 2011, having become known not just for her classic yet modern lines but also for her speed. Her asking price is €3,850,000 (VAT paid).
