The UK’s largest independent safety supplier, Ocean Safety, have reached their second milestone in the delivery schedule for replacing every life raft in the RNLI’s all-weather fleet, with the completion of the 200th life raft in a consignment which eventually will total 300.
The 200th delivery has been made just fourteen months after the contract was agreed with the RNLI. The life raft was sent to Inverness Marina, for their Trent Class Lifeboat.
Ocean Safety was selected by the RNLI to carry out the wide reaching replacement programme for all their current life rafts in an operation that will have taken up to three years in total when it is completed.
The Ocean Safety ISO life raft features some innovative solutions to meet the RNLI’s criteria. This meant designing a new life raft container to fit the existing stowage.
Charlie Mill of Ocean Safety commented, “We are now two-thirds of the way towards completion of our manufacturing schedule, and we are pleased that the delivery process continues to be on schedule.”
The Ocean Safety ISO life raft is produced at the company’s manufacturing facility in Southampton which opened less than a year ago to cater for an expanding order book. An example of the life raft will be on display on their stand at Southampton Boat Show.
