Oceanair proudly features onboard award winning sailing catamaran

Oceanair is proud to be onboard the 44.2m (145ft) sailing catamaran Hemisphere  - which has enjoyed a number of accolades from the yachting industry this year - providing blinds and light management solutions throughout the cabins and saloon. The yacht received a Judges Commendation in the World Superyacht Awards, and was a winner in two categories in the 2012 ShowBoats Design Awards (Interior Design Award and Interior Layout Award).

Built at Pendennis in the UK, Oceanair worked directly with interior fit out company Metrica Interior and interior designer Michael Leach Design. Oceanair installed large complex shaped SKYSOL pleated blinds in the huge saloon. These blinds were custom-made to work through Somfy powered motors on an incline. The blinds were installed in a way so that they were hidden from view when stowed.

In all other areas and cabins onboard Hemisphere custom painted and stained 50mm wooden powered venetian blinds were fitted. The challenge was to match the slats to the oak window furniture in some rooms and painted window furniture in the other rooms. Oceanair’s extensive fabric collection and sourcing of material was able to deal with this requirement. These blinds were powered by Somfy motors and most were installed at angles to follow the contours of the boat through the clever use of hidden guide wires. Powered blackout Openshade roller blinds were also fitted into recessed side tracks behind the venetian blinds installed behind the venetians to provide full blackout in each room if desired.

Hemisphere has enjoyed a few months cruising around the shores of Italy and will be heading to the Caribbean and the Pacific for the winter cruising season.
