Yachting Pages has put several of the leading safety cases (and other associated products) to the test. The objective: to ascertain how each product performs and determine which one is best equipped to safely contain a lithium battery-induced fire.
Reports emerged yesterday that the latest 86 metre performance sailing yacht project from Dutch shipyards, Oceanco and Vitters, is ready to launch. Currently known as Project 85, the new hull is an all-aluminium ketch, under construction at Oceanco’s facilities in Alblasserdam in the Netherlands.
Designed and built for an experienced yachtsman through a unique partnership between Oceanco Yachts and the Vitters Shipyard, she is designed for long-range worldwide cruising and long-term independence from the shore.
She features naval architecture and exterior design by US-based Tripp Design Naval Architects, which includes a powerful rig. Vitters reports that special attention was paid to the development of the sailing systems, which had to be safe, strong and lightweight. This came down to the custom development of winches of up to 40 tonnes, furlers, masts and rigging.
The new hull features interior design from German design studio, Dölker + Voges, which will feature a light wood tone with stainless steel details and colourful upholstery.
The layout will accommodate up to 12 guests, plus a crew of 18, divided across her three decks.
The new project is due for delivery in the coming months.
