Motor Yacht A, the 119m Blohm & Voss superyacht of Russian billionaire, Andrey Melnichenko, is currently awaiting routine maintenance work at the Palumbo Shipyard in Malta, with the two Palumbo yards having announced a host of superyachts between them throughout 2015.
Currently hauled out at Palumbo’s Malta facility, Motor Yacht A is under preparation for routine winter maintenance work, including a new coat of paint over the entire vessel. Her stern section was last re-sprayed in New Zealand in 2014.
Palumbo has also reported that a further fleet of superyachts have visited its two shipyard facilities in Malta and Marseilles over the last season, signing to make use of its refit services during the winter months. This includes the iconic 88m luxury sailing yacht, Maltese Falcon, which has recently returned to Malta to be prepared for her 10-year Lloyd’s survey.
Palumbo’s ITM shipyard in Marseille, which is equipped with four dry docks ranging from 80m too 126m in length, has also welcomed the 70m Skat, 55m Steel, 60m Slipstream, 71m Titaniam 74m Yalla and 78m Pegasus VII superyachts to her facilities in recent months, with her surface of over 1,200 square metres of work space.
Palumbo reports that significant resources are expected to go into the on-going development of its two sites, in order to make the shipyard experience more attractive for crew. Crew lounges, barbeque areas, gymnasiums and games rooms will soon be established at the Marseille facility, as already in place in Malta.
