Phuket Yacht Haven Marina to get new superyacht extension

Luxury yacht marina expert Marinetek will build an extension designed for superyachts up to 100m (328ft) or more for Yacht Haven Marina, based in NE of the island of Phuket in Thailand. Phuket Yacht Haven Marina is widely regarded as one of the first ports of choice for superyachts visiting Asia.

Yacht Haven Marina Phuket is keeping up with the region’s growing demand for additional berths. All Yacht Haven’s 300 berths up to 80m (262ft) yachts have been fully occupied and there is a lack of capacity to accommodate, especially superyachts.

According to Yacht Haven Marina’s statistics, already more than 50 yachts above 30 meters, of which 12 have been more than 50m, have visited the marina during the ongoing season. These numbers do not include the superyachts having their permanent berths in Yacht Haven Marina.

Marinetek’s turn-key extension project provides, all together, more than 1300 linear meters of alongside dockage with pontoon width up to 4.5m (15ft), freeboard to 65 cm and pedestals with 200 amps, three-phase supply and 60 amp single-phase supply.

Nick Wyatt, marina manager, said “Marinetek’s purposely designed superyacht pontoons will cope with the superyacht loads and provide added wave attenuation capacity. From an operational view, a very welcome improvement is the pontoons’ minimal maintenance need, due to their modern concrete structure”. The marina extension is the planned venue for the new Phuket Yacht Charter & Brokerage Show set for 12th February - 15th February 2015.

Singapore based, Kristian Rame, Marintek regional director commented, “The region is getting busier and yachts are getting larger. This sets higher criteria for the pontoon performance and as a result, we see an increasing interest for our Heavy Duty and Super Yacht concrete pontoons”.
