Qatar International Boat Show announces key organisational changes for 2016

Under the patronage of HE Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Qatar Prime Minister and Interior Minister, Qatar international Boat Show 2016 (QIBS’16) has announced key organisational changes to its programme, ahead of next month’s show.

Changes included the introduction of a new chairman, Ahmed Mohammed Al-Hitmi. Al-Hitmi, one of the founding fathers of the maritime industry in Qatar, and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the show.

In addition to the new Chairman, Al Mannai Events has created a new management team to lead this year’s show, including established hospitality and events leader Nader Samaan as the show’s director.

The changes were announced at an event held at Marsa Malaz Kempinski in The Pearl. Samaan commented, “QIBS is an institution in Qatar’s annual events calendar and it is a pleasure to be part of the new dynamic team at Al Mannai Events, who all bring a wealth of experience to ensure the show’s success for another year.

“The aim is to keep pace with the development and modernity of Qatar and the GCC’s blossoming maritime industry, in order to explore new markets and fulfil the desires of customers. This year we have injected new blood into the show to develop a new vision for the future, which is evident in the new look and feel.”

At the event, Al-Hitmi offered his gratitude for the ongoing support of the show from all Qatari officials including His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, who is represented by HE Sheikh Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani.

Al-Hitmi also thanked the Ministry of Interior & Coast Guard Department and all participants and organisations who have continued to support QIBS.

This year’s show will include a VIP opening ceremony on Wednesday 7th December, where HE Sheikh Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani will officially open the show. QIBS’16 will then be open Thursday 8th until Saturday 10th December, 2.30pm to 9.30pm.

Motorboats, luxury yachts and unique dhows will be showcased on both land and water; exhibitor chalets will then line the marina walkway representing many of the top names in the maritime industry, both local and international. Pre-bookings for viewing specific brands and models on display are recommended, to avoid disappointment.

More information about the boat programme and participants will be announced in the coming weeks. Visit www.qatarboatshow.com.qa, or follow QIBS16 (Facebook), QIBS16 (Instagram) and Qatar International Boat Show (YouTube), for the latest news.
