Dutch shipyard Royal Huisman has entered into an agreement with German shipping service Emden Dockyard, for the exclusive use of its deep-water facilities in Emden, Germany.
Dr. Christian Eckel, managing director of Emden Dockyard (R) and Roemer Boogaard, managing director of Royal Huisman (L) signing the agreement.
The new Huisfit covered workshop will allow them to cater yachts of almost unlimited size.
The agreement will allow Huisfit, the shipyard’s specialist refit division, access to over 300,000 square metres of further refit facilities just 200km from the shipyard’s established amenities in Vollenhove, in the Netherlands.
Reachable by ground or air, Huisfit’s project management teams will easily be able to travel across the border to the Emden facility, which houses dry docks, covered work sheds and dedicated shore-side support services.
The most noteworthy capability of the site is a covered hall totalling 2,596 square metres. Measuring 118m in length, 22m across and 22m high, the new facilities will allow Huisfit to cater to yachts “of almost unlimited size”.
