Saybrook Point Marina expands its commitment to the environment

Saybrook Point Marina is to open this season, on May 1, with a new environmentally-conscious marine fueling system. Thanks in part to a Boating Infrastructure Grant (BIG) administered by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, the marina has installed two new 10,000-gallon, double-walled fiberglass reinforced Underground Storage Tanks for gasoline and diesel.

These new tanks are not susceptible to corrosion, have a lower risk for potential leaks, and are equipped with a new electronic digital monitoring system that provides continuous leak detection. The system also has new eco-friendly fuel lines and dispensers.

Stephen Tagliatela, managing partner, commented "We’re looking forward to a fun-filled, eco-friendly boating season this year along Connecticut shoreline.

“This is another example of our longstanding commitment to undertaking sustainable practices that help preserve and protect the environment in which we all live in.”

Located at the mouth of the Connecticut River, Saybrook Point Marina also features a new transient dock with four slips for visiting boaters cruising the historic waters of the Connecticut shoreline and Connecticut River.

Saybrook Point Inn, as well as Spa and Marina has also won numerous awards for its often best-in-class green practices, including the first Connecticut hotel to be named a Certified Energy Hotel in 2007.

Tagliatela continued, "Our impressive clean green scorecard is due in large part to our deeply committed staff that has pledged to uphold the environmental ethics of the property and foster a great sense of community and responsibility.”
