Printing specialist, S.G.S Scribe Gestion Services, is celebrating its 25th birthday this November, with a new range of creative possibilities following the introduction of its VersaUV LEF-20. This new equipment means the company can print directly onto a wider range of products to create personalised items.
S.G.S. began trading in 1989, when founders, Mr. and Mrs. Juif opened a small print shop in Antibes, France to type and print CVs for the aspiring superyacht crew looking for work on the growing number of yachts arriving in Port Vauban.
Today, S.G.S. offers increased marine marketing and printing services to yachts visiting Antibes, including large format posters, printed t-shirts, promotional caps, pens, USB sticks, coasters and napkins.
Since its inception, directors Mr. and Mrs. Juif have taken more of a back seat, leaving son Bertrand to look after the printing needs of the various yachts calling in to the port.
Speaking exclusively to Yachting Pages, Bertrand said, “S.G.S still gets asked for CVs and colour photocopies, but with new machines arriving every year, laser engraving and super-fast digital printing presses have pretty much taken over.”
Bertrand added, “In 1989, yacht brokers in Antibes were some of the most popular visitors to S.G.S. at this time, as they took advantage of the Cote d’Azur’s very first digital colour printing machine, producing colour brochures of some of the yachts that they had for sale.
“As the yachting industry continued to grow, more and more yachts like S/Y Enterprise, M/Y Dubawi, M/Y Maridome and M/Y Mystique, were launched, and S.G.S. began to get requests for a wide variety of superyacht services, such as safety plans, safety signs, ship’s stamps, business cards and stationary.”
