‘Shooting Star’ 38m Vessel Wins 2012 World Superyacht Award

The 38m vessel Shooting Star has been awarded the 2012 World Superyacht Award. The World Superyacht Awards event is now in its seventh year, established to recognise the finest new superyacht builds.

Shooting Star was the single winner in the highly-competitive ‘Two Deck Open & Semi-Displacement or Planing Motor Yacht’ category.

This is Shooting Star’s second high-profile award after being named the Overall Winner of the Sperry Top-Sider Marblehead NOOD (National Offshore One-design) Regatta in 2011.

The award was announced and presented at the event’s gala ceremony in Istanbul, Turkey, on Saturday evening (May 5th). The event was attended by some of the yachting world’s most influential and distinguished guests.

Shooting Star was designed by Espen Oeino as the latest in shipyard Danish Yachts’ AeroCruiser series. Her design was inspired by the world of private aviation, using carbon build technology with Scandinavian design and Danish craftsmanship.

As a result, Shooting Star boasts a spacious and comfortable interior with what Danish Yachts describes as “sports car handling and performance.” The boat has a nearly 50-knot top speed, and can complete a turn at full speed in only 2.5 boat lengths.
