Spanish Matriculation Tax extended to all charter yachts

The matriculation tax exemption in Spain has officially been extended to include all charter yachts. On Thursday 17th of October 2013, the Spanish Congress of Deputies has approved a bill, which contains the modification of the current exemption for vessels exclusively dedicated to charter, eliminating the mention of the maximum length of 15 meters for these vessels.

After its approval, the bill has to be published in the Spanish for Official Bulletin of the State, the official gazette of the Government of Spain in order to be mandatory. This is expected to happen in one week time.

Tax Marine has claimed that this is excellent news for the entire Spanish marine industry. The tax amendment will allow Spain to participate in this particular market, using the same conditions as their surrounding countries.

According to Tax Marine, this is the result of so many peoples' efforts, that have been working behind the scenes for many years and it will almost certainly help to activate charter business in Spain. It is expected, that the industry will see the effect of this measure in next year’s 2014 charter season.
