Yachting Pages has put several of the leading safety cases (and other associated products) to the test. The objective: to ascertain how each product performs and determine which one is best equipped to safely contain a lithium battery-induced fire.
British design studio Squared MK, founded in 2015, has revealed two new superyacht concepts, which it will debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) this week.
According to the studio, its approach to conceptual design is one that is based on in-depth research and the work of the world’s leading shipyards, with its team not focused on superyacht exteriors alone, but also interior and luxury product design.
The newer of the two concepts to be displayed is 46.9m motor yacht, FC 50 (‘FC’ standing for Fast Commuter), inspired by traditional values combined with modern technology.
Studio director Stefano Andreas Koukas commented, “Through combining some aspects of modern yachts and architectural style from this period, we have created something unique.”
Koukas explained that the vessel is intended for a versatile owner who doesn’t have much spare time to spend aboard. It is designed to be available for long weekends to cover short distances and enter shallow waters.
Alongside the FC 50, Squared MK has also unveiled fast displacement motor yacht Nyx, with an LOA of 75m.
Koukas said, “Nyx was designed with particular attention to aesthetics and proportions. Our goal was to design a challenging vessel with a strong character, for an active client with a passion for style and a dynamic and charming lifestyle.”
The two vessels will be displayed throughout Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, which takes place from 1st to 5th November 2017 at Bahia Mar Yachting Center.
