OMT Training Ltd has launched a MCA accredited STCW Basic Training course with the collaboration of the fire service at Southampton Airport.
OMT believe that, with the continued growth of Southampton Airport and its expanding list of inbound and outbound destinations, the city will soon become a hub for maritime training, attracting candidates from the UK and Europe with candidates from Amsterdam, Isle of Man and Edinburgh already taking advantage of the unique location.
The STCW Basic Training course will give each student the qualifications needed to either maintain skills competence, or to gain new qualification in order to help land a maritime industry job.
Hazel Wilson from OMT Training commented, “We have a very enthusiastic team of trusted and competent trainers that will deliver a fantastic product. Coupled with our existing MCA courses, the five new elements of elementary first aid, fire prevention and fire fighting, personal survival techniques, personal safety and social responsibilities, including proficiency in security awareness, all enhance our growing MCA training portfolio.”
Furthermore, the airport’s location means that the course can be offered on a ‘fly in, fly out’ basis, making it easily accessible from the North of England, the Channel Islands, Scotland, Ireland and Europe.
