Marina Cap Cana recently announced the successful close of the the ninth edition of its White Marlin Classic, a world-renowned fishing tournament in which 44 fishermen participated in a three-day fishing event.
Taking first place in the category of ‘Best Boat and Best Crew’ was the Victoria from Puerto Rico, with 14 releases (13 white marlin and one sailfish), seven of which came on the last day of the tournament, achieving the best fishing day for this boat in 2015 so far. In second and third place respectively were Black Gold from the United States and Naira from Aruba.
In the individual categories, ‘Best Fisherman’ was granted to Carlos Isaza of the Naira with a total of 875 points, followed by Christian Mota of the Victoria with a total of 625 points, and Garret Pentley of the Sweet Coco with 600 points. In the women’s category, Alma Taveras of the Victoria ship won ‘Best Fsherwoman’ with a total of 600 points.
This year, the tournament was attended by Alberto Gual, Commodore of the Nautical Club of San Juan, Puerto Rico and Rick Alvares, a known fisherman and organiser of the International Bill Fish ShootOut, which is celebrating its twenty-first delivery in June.
The tournament also had the support of the International Game Fish Association (IGFA), with sponsorship by world-famous brands such as President, Barcelo, PetroMovil, Coca Cola, Europcar, Scape Park, WT World Tours Planner, Alsol Hotels & Resorts, Atlantida Punta Cana, Schad- Global X.
