Sunseeker teams up with Red Bull F1

British yard Sunseeker International used the occasion of the London Boat Show 2018 to announce a new partnership with Red Bull Advanced Technologies that will see the two companies collaborate on a new range of yachts.

Part of the Red Bull Technology group, which includes the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Formula One team, Red Bull Advanced Technologies was established to share technological breakthroughs from F1 with other related industries.

Speaking at the London Boat Show after the partnership was announced, Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner said, “We are delighted to be working with Sunseeker. As a leading name in the marine industry, and one focused on innovation and development, a relationship with Sunseeker is an organic fit for us.”

Following Horner’s statement, Sunseeker CEO Phil Popham described the partnership as a natural fit due to the yards’ shared reputation for performance. He commented, “We are delighted to sign the MOU with Red Bull Advanced Technologies and look forward to working closely with them on future projects. Sunseeker has a strong performance heritage, it’s in our brand DNA and since our inception we have designed yachts that make the heart race. As such, Red Bull Advanced Technologies is a natural partner for us and I’m looking forward to working with them.”

As yet no further details have been released on the yachts that will benefit from the relationship, but the current Sunseeker collection ranges in size from 15 metres (49 foot) to 47 metres (154 foot).

It capped a busy week for Sunseeker at the London Boat Show with the yard also announcing it had become an official FIFA Partner ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The news was made in the company of England 1966 World Cup winner Sir Geoff Hurst and a replica of the Jules Rimet Trophy.
